About Safe Sprouts
In high-pressure moments, clarity comes from structure and practise, not information alone.
Kat Mason
FOUNDER, SAFE SPROUTS
I’m Kat — a mum, paramedic and educator, and the founder of Safe Sprouts.
My career has spanned more than two decades across emergency care and education. I’ve worked clinically, and I’ve spent years teaching paramedic students, interns and defence personnel how to think clearly when decisions need to be made under pressure.
Becoming a parent reshaped how I approach teaching. When it’s your own child, information alone isn’t enough. You need clarity, structure and an understanding of what matters most.
Safe Sprouts was created from that intersection — clinical experience and real-life parenting.
Most first aid courses focus on covering information. Safe Sprouts was designed differently. Our programs are built around how people actually think and perform in high-pressure situations. We teach clear response frameworks, guided practice and repetition so that parents have something solid to fall back on when it counts.
We also teach prevention alongside response. Because reducing risk is just as important as knowing what to do if something happens. Recognising early signs, understanding what’s normal, and making small environmental adjustments are part of the same picture.
Safe Sprouts workshops are delivered by experienced paramedics and paediatric nurses with extensive backgrounds in paediatric emergency care. Every educator is selected and trained to deliver the same structured, steady approach — so that the standard remains consistent, no matter who is teaching.
Our goal is simple: to help you feel steady, informed and capable throughout the first year.
