Does the thought of starting solids with your little one send you into the depths of anxiety?

Do you stress that they will choke on their food and you won't know what to do?

Have you considered sitting outside the emergency department when you first introduce food groups to your child, just in case they have a reaction?

DITCH. THE. FEAR.

At Safe Sprouts, we believe starting solids should be one of the most special milestones in your parenting journey, not something that should be feared.

Join us for our Starting Solids workshop, where we'll guide you through some of your biggest fears surrounding the introducing solid foods to your baby. In this interactive session, we'll provide you with essential knowledge and practical tips to help you navigate choking and allergy concerns with confidence.

This workshop provides you with the safe space to learn, ask questions, and connect with other parents on this important milestone in your baby's development.

Learn how to prevent, identify and manage choking.

-Look at simple ways to prepare food depending on your babies age to prevent choking.

-Discover the difference between choking and gagging.

-Learn how to manage a partial airway blockage and a complete airway obstruction

-Practise your choking management skills on infant manikins.

Learn how to prevent, identify and manage allergies.

-Understand what an allergy is, and how they develop.

-We will go through the most current recommendations in food introductions aimed at preventing allergies in your child.

-Recognise the signs and symptoms of mild and severe allergies, and how they differ.

-Know how to respond if your child shows signs of a reaction; when to see a GP and when to call 000.

-We will also discuss the important roles that GP's, allergists and paediatric dieticians have in the diagnosis and management of allergies.

At Safe Sprouts, we believe in best practise and evidence based education. All information in this workshop will be guidelines/recommendations from the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) and the Australasian Society of Clinical Immunology and Allergy (ASCIA).
